The ‘Tribal Academicians forum’ held its 3rd Annual General conference today at Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura Jishnu Debbarma and Minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia.

The forum has also submitted series of charter of demands to the ministers which includes immediate recruitment of Assistant Professors in Kokborok in all colleges offering the subject, implementation of Roman script for Kokborok, construction of ST boys and girls hostel in all colleges. It also demands continuation of scholarship for ST girls at Banasthali Vidhyapith University and Scholarship for pursuing B.Ed course for ST students and opening of degree colleges under Jampuijala and Korbook subdivisions of the state.

The conference was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister. The forum comprises of members from different teaching fraternity under all government degree colleges and Universities in Tripura belonging to Schedule Tribe Category. Dr. Babudhan Tripura presided over the conference. Near about hundred academicians participated in the conference.

Dy Chief Minister emphasized on the cultural values in the age modernization to the forum considering each member of the academic forum as Think tank of the Society. He also appealed the forum to contribute for the welfare of good governance for bringing out all round development. Mr. Jamatia, Minister of Tribal Welfare informed the gathering about the various welfare activities taken by his ministry.
