From Our Correspondent, Tripura Daily News | Agartala, April 27, 2018:
Former Tripura Finance Minister and Deputy Leader of Opposition MLA Badal Choudhury on Thursday underwent a ‘question and answer’ session with the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with a case of a Kolkata based Rose Valley Chit Fund Scam.
Choudhury was grilled soon after CBI recorded the statement of Ex-Minister Bijita Nath yesterday. Three CBI officials interrogated the ex- Minister at No. 2 MLA Hostel for about 2 hours. Prior to this, the CBI had taken permission from the speaker of the legislative assembly, Rebati Mohan Das for interrogating the two CPI(M) MLAs.
The interrogation started at around 4 pm when Ex-Minister Badal Choudhury went inside his room at the MLA Hostel. But the details of the interrogation could not be gathered as CBI officials refused to comment on the issue.
The Northeast Today – TNT tried to reach out to the Ex-Minister Badal Choudhury but to no avail. There was high security surrounding the entire 2 No. MLA Hostel complex to prevent any kind of disruption in the investigation process.
It may be mentioned that the chairman of the Rose Valley company, Gautam Kundu is under the custody of C.B.I. since 2015.
Earlier, CPI(M) General Secretary Bijan Dhar has categorically said that “No CPI(M) leader is involved in the Rose Vallley Chit Fund Scam and if the CBI wants any information we are ready to cooperate”. Ex- Ministers Badal Choudhury and Bhanu Lal Saha has also challenged the newly elected government in the floor of the legislative assembly by saying that if the BJP thinks that we have done something wrong then they must call CBI and ask them to investigate. “We are not afraid of anything,” they maintained.
It is also speculated that the CBI team might also interrogate some other political leaders and other individuals related with this case.
