She is young, she is ambitious, she is successful, she is strong-willed — she is an International Kick Boxing Champion from Tripura.
Meet Tracy Darlong from Tripura, a young athlete who recently bagged a gold medal at the Indo-Sri Lanka International Savate Cup 2018 held in Chandigarh. Darlong hails from a small hamlet, Kanchacherra under Dhalai district.
A National Gold Medalist in kick- boxing, Darlong is all but determined to make her state and country proud as she sets eyes on the World’s greatest sports event — Olympics.
To honour and recognize her feat and excellent display of sportsmanship, the Darlong Students Union om Saturday felicitated Darlong at Dasharat Deb Memorial Auditorium.
Tribal Welfare Minister, Mevar Kumar Jamatia felicitated the young athlete.
“I have never met her before; she came to meet me after winning the medal. I also didn’t know that she has already won 8 medals. I will talk to my department to support her so that she can fulfill her dreams,” said Mevar Kumar Jmatia.
Tracy will further participate in the upcoming winter session of International Kick Boxing Championship.
Pinaki Chakraborty who had earlier trained Tracy Darlong, while speaking to The North East Today-TNT, has expressed his joy following her success.
“she was my kick- boxing student. Recently, she bagged a medal in Savete Martial Arts which is another form of martial arts but very similar to Kick-Boxing,” he said.
Chakraborty further stated that Tracy is a National Gold Medalist in kick- boxing as well. “I am very much happy for her achievements and she needs to bring more laurels for her country and for her state as well,” he added.
