AGARTALA | June 05, 2019:

The IPFT, the coalition partner of the incumbent BJP-led government in Tripura, has decided to go solo in all the coming elections to local bodies like the ADC, Municipal Bodies and Nagar Panchayats and Village Committees.

The spokesman and assistant general secretary of IPFT, Mangal Debbarma disclosed the decision taken during the central committee meeting of the party held recently in the ‘Nuai’ auditorium in ADC headquarter.

In the committee meeting, the leaders and members discussed the issue pertaining to the party’s performance in the Lok Sabha election and organizational profile was also discussed threadbare before taking the decision on fighting the elections alone.

In the just-concluded elections to the state’s two Lok Sabha seat, the IPFT had fought alone and performed poorly but the party remains determined to fight all future elections on its own.

Mangal said that no meeting of the co-ordination committee between BJP and IPFT headed by deputy chief minister Jishnu Debbarma was held since the eve of the MP elections.
