Unemployment problem is one of the biggest challenges every state government is trying to overcome through the introduction of various schemes and programmes with an aim to tackle this problem. But the success rate of such efforts is often minimal.
Like other northeastern state governments, the BJP-IPFT government in Tripura is also faced with the same challenge and its inability to create a ‘New Recruitment Policy’ has further put the government in bad light.
Owing to the fact that government jobs provide security, the number of of youths opting for a white collar job increases everyday even as they eagerly wait for job vacancies in different government sectors, only to be left disappointed. Moreover, many job aspirants who have been selected during the previous regime in different government departments are still waiting for their call letters.
A delegation of 1451 Police Constable job aspirants, who were selected last year after completion of all selection procedures but are yet to receive their call letters, gathered at Umakanta Stadium, which is opposite to the Chief Minister’s house, today morning with a hope to meet the Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Dey, who is arriving from Delhi today.
The police were later called to handle the situation and ordered the crowd to disperse and vacate the area. After vacating the spot, the job aspirants later gathered at Astabal Stadium but after few minutes, CRPF jawans reached the spot and arrested many of them.
While speaking to the media, one of the Police Constable job aspirants said “We have passed our written, physical and medical examinations according to the last government’s recruitment policy in May last year but till now we haven’t received our call letters. So, we wanted to meet the CM and apprise him of the plight of the 1451 candidates”.
