Ajandra Reang was a resident of Kurma village in Gomati district. The Leader of Opposition has alleged BJP activists for the murder and for carrying out unlawful activities throughout the state. The Ex- Chief Minister also reminded BJP that the people of the state had voted them in power to do more good work than the previous regime. So, they must fulfill their pre -poll promises which they had made to the people. Manik Sarkar also demanded free and fair investigation of the murder of Ajandra Reang and has also assured the poor family members of Ajandra Reang who have lost their only son that CPI(M) party is with them.

Speaking to TNT- The Northeast Today over phone M.P. Jitendra Choudhury told us “Our activist Ajandra Reang was being continuously threatened by anti-social element of BJP party since the new government has sworn-in. On 14 April night he called up his wife and asked her to save him. After that his phone was not reachable. After two days his dead body was found tied up to a tree in the jungle. Whereas, the police had arrested our party’s district Secretary Samir Rudra Paul whom they have to later release on bail. But he himself was under threat after the last assembly elections. Though we are also not defending him but we want the police department to work above political parties instruction and to nab the real culprits who have destroyed a whole family”.

BJP has, however denied all the allegations saying, “We don’t have any link with the murder of Ajandra Reang and it was due to CPI(M) ‘s inner party clash between different fraction that a young boy has to loose his life. None of our party activists have any connection with the murder”, said BJP MLA  of that Ratan Das.

In yet another incident of alleged political rivalry at Baikhora in South Tripura a CPI(M) activist Rakesh Dhar had to lose his life. The incident took place on 12th April. CPI(M) state leader including Ex-Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Manik Sarkar, Deputy Speaker of Opposition Badal Choudhury had visited Rakesh Dhar’s house on Saturday and has demanded immediate action against the culprits.

Speaking to Tripura Daily News,  Deputy Leader of Opposition Badal Choudhury commented “our party activist Rakesh Dhar was murdered brutally by BJP activists on 12th April but the police is still unable to find out the culprits. The ruling party hooligans are attacking our party activists and destroying our party offices on a daily basis. Our party leaders had also met the Chief Minister and requested him to act on this issue and he has also given us his word that he will act on it.”
He also added, “But now as you can see that his word has no value. So, now who will take the responsibility of poor Rakesh Dhar’s family. We demand that the government must provide a source of income to Rakesh Dhar’s wife Mampi Dhar who is just 22 years old so that she and her two and a half year old child can at least survive.  We also demand justice for our activist Rakesh Dhar. The Chief Minister must take responsibility of it.”
