Former Health Minister and BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Friday called upon a rally for solidarity against increasing crime rates on women in Tripura. The rally was joined by thousands of people.
The rally was led by Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha, a BJP legislator including other leaders and workers from several organization.
The rally began from Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan area and moved across main streets of the city.
Shouting slogans against rape, thousands of people from different corner of the state participated in the rally. The young brigade raised voice for revolution and played guitar to protest against the crime against women in a unique way.
While talking to the media, Sudip Roy Barman thanked the people for showing support in favor of the rally amidst such weather disturbances. He further appealed to people protect the prestige of our mothers and sisters.
“We have to come together to create a barricade to stop violence against insult, disgrace and molestation of women across the state,” he said.
Barman said this is the new year resolution to unite and fight it out and spread a message of social awareness program in Agartala. There is no political agenda behind this.
“Every day, on an average there is report of five women becoming victim of molestation or rape, bride burning, and equal number of such crime goes unreported, which is worst and to stop the rising crime against women”, Barman said.
“This rally is to save the women of the society”, added Barman.
Security is tightened across the entire city to avoid any untoward incident.
