AGARTALA | Jan 5, 2019 (Agencies) :

Inflow of hundreds of BJP workers from various corners of Tripura since morning to join the mass rally of BJP’s national president Amit Shah today, has affected the movement of regular commuters of public transport means and local trains here.

Amit Shah along with BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav and others addressed the page observers of Tripura at Vivekananda stadium today afternoon, which is considered as the formal beginning of Lok Sabha election campaign of BJP in the state.

Shah also held separate meeting with the leaders of IPFT, the sole partner of BJP government in Tripura and core  Committee members of BJP, elected MLAs and ministers besides, office bearers of the party in the state. He also held exclusive interaction with the ministers and review of the performance of the government.

“The page observers rally is a step towards boosting the ground level activities of BJP, which has been reduced to almost zero after BJP government was installed in the state that offered the opportunity of the opposition parties to repair their base against BJP,” said a senior party functionary.

He said BJP in Tripura has been suffering from serious gaps as coordination among the leaders and the workers at grassroots level widened giving birth to factional dissidence within the party.

After party’s president Biplab Kumar Deb became chief minister, he was not able to give time to the party that affected the activities at lower level and development initiatives and actions of the state government in last 10 months were not properly reached to the people only due to organisational difficulties, he added.

It was expected that the meeting of the party chief will discuss all the issues and to adopt the action for revamping the party activities at grassroots level.

Shah’s visit is assumed to be significant ahead of extended meeting of BJP’s national council with all level leaders of the party across the country that will finalise the policy and adopt the strategies to fight the election.

Shah addressed the gathering of about 65,000 people including BJP’s 42,000 page observers. While party leaders like Ajoy Jamwal and Sunil Deodhar arrived here yesterday to make Shah’s visit successful, Ram Madhav and Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reached here in the morning and supporters from different sub-divisions have started assembling since early morning.

After arrival here, Amit Shah straight away flied to Mata Tripureswari temple in Udaipur by helicopter with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

He will also attend the dinner party at CM’s residence and return Delhi tomorrow morning.
