AGARTALA | February 9, 2019:

Amid protests in state following the Citizenship Amendment Bill, three MPs from Tripura namely Jharna Das Baidya, Jitendra Chaudhury and Shankar Prasad Dutta have taken a decision to boycott Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of projects which are set to be held at Agartala.

In a press release, the MPs stated that the Bill would harm Northeast in a long run and will pose severe fractures to the country.

It also mentioned that the Bill has been conceived against the spirit of Indian constitution.

PM Modi is set to visit the three Northeastern states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on February 9.

Expressing solidarity against Modi government to pass the Bill, the MPs had appeal the government to withdraw the bill from Rajya Sabha.

However, they also congratulated people of Tripura and the Left Front government in their efforts for the implementation of projects in state.
