At the backdrop of increasing cases of drug abuse in Northeast India, Sepahijala District police today arrested three persons and recovered 2250 yaba tablets. Case registered under NDPS Act and investigation is in progress.
“The name of the arrested anti-socials will not be disclosed as of now and all of them will be produced to the court today” said Sepahijala police.
Ya ba formerly known as ya ma are tablets containing a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine.
Ya ba is sometimes called “bhul bhuliya” in India. Burma is the largest producer of methamphetamine in the world, with the majority of ya ba found in Thailand being produced in Burma, particularly in the Golden Triangle and northeastern Shan State, which borders Thailand, Laos, and China.
