Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Northeast India comes at a time when the 7 states of Northeast India are vehemently opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The PM was greeted with black flags and torchlight rallies in Assam yesterday. While in Tripura, the Royal Scion Pradyot Manikya has appealed to leaders from IPFT/BJP to speak to the PM and apprise him about the sentiments of people pertaining to CAB.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today unveiled the statue of Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman Manikya Bahadur at Agartala.

Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur is widely regarded as the creator of modern Tripura. He is credited with the planning of Agartala city. The unveiling of his statue is in line with the Union Government’s policy of honouring the unsung heroes of India, who have contributed greatly to nation-building.

The PM arrived in Tripura’s at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala this afternoon and was greeted by the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb along with the Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarma among others.

The PM’s visit to Tripura is the last leg of his visit to the three Northeast Indian states. This will be marked by hin dedicating to the nation Garjee – Belonia railway line through the unveiling of a plaque at Swami Vivekananda stadium here. This line will boost Tripura as the gateway to South and Southeast Asia. He will also inaugurate the new complex of Tripura Institute of Technology at Narsingarh.
