Thousands of people from all walks of life in Tripura united yet again today to oppose the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill that was passed in the Lok Sabha on January 8.
The rally today was held at Hokutwisa school ground which started from 12 pm onwards. Organized by Committee on Movement against Citizenship Amendment Bill, the rally witnessed participation from thousands of people. The rally comes just a day before PM Modi’s visit in state. The PM is set to arrive in state on Feb 09.
It may be mentioned that Tripura government on Feb 3 pressed sedition charges on several protesters who rallied on January 30 for using ‘Objectionable Slogans’. This invited huge condemnation from all sections of society.
On Feb 07, artists and musicians from different parts of Tripura came together to organize a unique fest with an aim to oppose the Bill.
