Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday claimed that the bamboo, used for making flutes played by music maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, is sourced from Tripura.

“The bamboo variety used to make flutes which are played by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is sent from north and Dhalai districts of Tripura,” he said.

Deb, on Friday, joined a gathering to hear Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address through video telecast in New Delhi, where the PM inaugurated 12 schemes related to MSME support and outreach programme.

Before attending the video telecast, the CM encouraged people of the state to explore the bamboo market and develop new ideas and concepts to increase the marketability of bamboo items.
“The state produces high quality bamboo and the bamboo available in the state are used to make the flutes used by music maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia” said Deb.
The ruling BJP government in Tripura has decided to plant bamboo in 2,500 hectare of land in the state.
CM also criticized the previous Left Front Government stating that the previous regime has failed to popularize its scheme and activities among the people of state.
