Barely a day after Tripura’s ‘Wonder Girl’ bagged Gold at the women’s vault event at the Asian Gymnastics World Challenge Cup at Mersin in Turkey, wishes from far and wide began to pour. In view of this, BJP State General Secretary while speaking to media persons today said that the party has requested the state government to make Gymnast Dipa Karmakar as the ‘Brand Ambassador of Tripura’. Dipa Karmakar made a thunderous comeback yesterday after being injured and bagged gold in the women’s vault event at the Asian Gymnastics World Challenge Cup at Mersin in Turkey. Celebrities and influential personalities like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amitabh Bachchan have congratulated the ‘Wonder Girl’ from Tripura for her heroic achievement.
BJP in a press conference at their party headquarters in Agartala also reverted back to the comments made by the CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury yesterday in which he categorically condemned the state government for the deteriorating law and order condition in the state. He also accused the BJP led state government for not taking any action in the murder cases of four of their party activists after the assembly election results earlier this year. The top most office bearer of CPI(M) also accused the Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath for spreading rumors of kidney smuggling which fueled incidents of mob lynching.
While addressing the media, BJP State General Secretary Pratima Bhowmik responded to Yechury’s allegations and said “Why does he not talk about the murders that happened during the CPI(M) era including the murder of their own sitting Minister Bimal Sinha? The present Chief Minister has zero tolerance for political violence. One of their activist Tapas Sutradhar who was recently murdered was a corrupt person. Rs.17 lakh rupees have been recovered from his bank accounts after his murder. He used to sell government jobs and in his murder the person who has been arrested is himself a CPI(M) leader. BJP has nothing to do with any murder of their activists”.
