Deputy Chief Minister cum Tripura Power Minister Jishnu Devvarma yesterday met Union Power Minister R.K. Singh at New Delhi and discussed about various crucial issues related to Power department. This is their first visit after the Union Power Minister R.K. Singh visited Tripura this month for the launch of Saubhagya Scheme.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarma and Union Power Minister R.K. Singh discussed that the newly inaugurated Saubhagya scheme must be connected with more house holds in Tripura. The Deputy Chief Minister also requested the Central Minister for clearance of fund for power line of 132 kv from Ambassa to Gandacherra on which the Central Minister assured to release the funds at the earliest.The Deputy Chief Minister also demanded to decrease the rate of purchased power from Bongaigaon thermal power plant.
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana – ‘Saubhagya’ was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 25th September 2017. Under Saubhagya free electricity connections to all households (both APL and poor families) in rural areas and poor families in urban areas will be provided. There are around 4 Crore un-electrified households in the country and they are targeted for providing electricity connections by December 2018.
