The Union Home Ministry is highly concerned about the security of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. Yesterday in a press conference BJP state leadership expressed their worry about the safety of the Chief Minister. According to reports, due to the rigid stance of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb pertaining to the drug business in the state, the CM has become the target of Drug mafia and a conspiracy of eliminating Biplab Kumar Deb is being shaped at Myanmar by top international drug mafias.
Since the BJP-IPFT government came into power Deb, has made it clear that he will not allow any drug business to be conducted from the soil of Tripura. As a result forty thousand kilogram of cannabis, thousands of yaba tablets, huge quantity of brown sugar, phesedyl (banned cough syrup) and other drugs have been seized by the anti-drug drive started by the Tripura Police in all districts. Many arrests have also been made in this regard.
Though the details about the assassination plot of the Chief Minister was not made available but according to sources Bangladeshi professional killers may be assigned to carry out the task. Most of the yaba tablets are smuggled from Myanmar via Bangladesh and Mizoram which thrives as it brings hundreds of crore but the anti- drug drive of the Tripura Police backed by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has proved to be a major hindrance to the flourishing drug business.
“Based on reports, it is learnt that drug mafias recently held a meeting at Myanmar to eliminate Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. For the last two and a half decades the previous Left Front regime has turned Tripura into a safe heaven for drug smugglers and destroyed the life of lakhs of youth of the state”, senior MLA Ratan Chakraborty told TNT- The Northeast Today.
A high level meeting regarding Chief Minister’s personal security and civil secretariat and residence was conducted yesterday at secretariat in which it has been decided to beef up the Chief Minister’s security cover a notch higher than what he is presently getting.
