Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb met the family of sub-inspector, Durga Kumar Hrangkhawl, who was killed after contraband smugglers allegedly drove a van over him during a vehicle check near Kalamchoura village of Sonamura subdivision in Sepahijala district.
A press release from the information and cultural affairs department (ICA), it stated that CM Deb had visited the family of the late sub-inspector of Tripura police.
“The chief minister met the family and handed over a cheque for Rs 1 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the wife of the late sub-inspector, Panchalaxmi Hrangkhawl. He was killed on duty. The culprits will get strict punishment. The state government is with the family of martyrs. In the coming days, the family will receive various facilities,” the press release said.
55-year-old, Hrangkhawl hailing from Teliamura village of Khowai district was killed on November 22 after contraband smugglers allegedly drove a van over him during a vehicle check near Kalamchoura village of Sonamura subdivision.
Hrangkhawl is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
