In an effort to achieve optimum utilization of land in hilly Tripura, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today called for technology transfer from Japan in construction sector and said he wanted ten storied buildings and beyond in the state though parts of it are under heavy quake prone seismic zone V.
In his address at a seminar on disaster management here today, CM Deb said proper utilization of land resource is limited in Tripura since there is no permission to build beyond five floors. “I have approached investors to start business here but everyone wants land within 10 km of Agartala city. Where will I find the land?” he asked. Deb also said for any good business venture, multi storied buildings have become a necessity.
“Japan is building high rise buildings with their unique technology despite the entire country in high quake prone zone. I want to bring that technology and adopt it to build 8-10 storied buildings and beyond, even if there is seismic zone here”, the CM has said.
Deb today laid wrath on the erstwhile Left Front government and said Agartala city was not built in a scientific way. “There is neither proper drainage system, nor scientific roadways. The centre has given us funds for building smart city but there is not sufficient land to work on. Optimum utilization of land must be done”, he said,
In a separate event later today, the CM inaugurated a mobile awareness van for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. He said the centrally sponsored scheme has helped women in transforming to have easier homestead with less carbon contribution. Deb assured to grant 1 lakh new LPG connections to economically disadvantaged women under PMUY in next 100 days.
