In yet another incident which highlights the growing political rivalry and unrest in the state, CPI(M) party’s top leader and M.P. Jitendra Choudhury while presiding over a meeting at CPI(M) Dhalai district party office was disrupted and stopped from conducting the meeting by 20-25 alleged BJP activists.

While speaking to TNT- The Northeast Today, M.P. Jitendra Choudhury condemned the incident and highlighted the intolerant political situation in the state since the time the new giovernment came to power.
He said, ” Today I was conducting a meeting at our Dhalai district party office and all of a sudden in the midst of our meeting 20-25 BJP activist entered the party office and started abusing us. They also threatened us to immediately stop the meeting and there was a huge provocation but we did not indulge into it. I immediately called the police and the police controlled the situation”.
Choudhury also immediately rang up Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and apprised him of the situation.
Speaking to TNT, he said, “I also informed the Chief Minister about the incident and I think he has intervened. But this incident was very unfortunate and unprecedented “.
Meanwhile BJP has denied the allegations of CPI(M).
” This is not the culture of BJP to attack political opponents. If there were some people from our party than I totally condemn it but as far as I know none of our activists are involved in today’s incident “, said BJP state General Secretary, Pratima Bhowmik.
