AGARTALA | August 30, 2018:

On Wednesday, CPM has alleged that their activists who were collecting donations for Kerala flood victims were attacked by BJP supporters at Udaipur in Gomati district.

Secretary of CPM, Bijan Dhar said that around 11 am,  MP Shankar Prasad Dutta, former health minister Keshab Majumder along with other supporters were attacked by BJP workers. While they were collecting donations the BJP activists also tried to snatch the donation box, Dhar alleged.

He added that the Left workers are being attacked across the state while collecting funds for Kerala. The subscription drive had started on August 21 and will continue till Friday.

Assistant inspector-general of police Smriti Ranjan Das said, “Workers of a political party started collecting funds for Kerala. A few men tried to stop them. On receiving the information, we rushed to the spot but by then they stopped collecting the donation. Nobody sustained injuries in the incident.”
