The aftermath of Pulwama attack of Feb 14 witnessed the detention as well arrest of several people in India for making pro-Pakistan comments. While 4 cases such cases were reported from the Northeast Indian state of Assam alone, 2 cases were reported from Tripura as well.

In the same lines, police are probing into reports of a pro-Pakistan Facebook post by a doctor in Tripura that has led to an outcry demanding his immediate arrest. According to reports, the doctor praised the efforts of Pakistan PM Imran Khan and posted on Facebook that “Humanity has won and politics has lost!

Good Decision by I mean Khan.” He was probably referring to Imran’s decision to free Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, whose MiG 21 was shot on Wednesday morning after which he was held captive by Pakistan. Posted at a Community Health Centre in Sepahijala district, the medico has also posted other links on FB stating how Indians treat Kashmiris and how Kashmiris treat stranded tourists on his Facebook wall on Thursday night that went viral on the social media. He has shared a link of propakistan.pk that states that how British analysts have portrayed Imran Khan to be the best PM since Quaid (which is the title given to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto).

“Ashamed that I was his senior. I wish he had inculcated minimum sense of love for the country. Nothing is above the country,” said Dr Abir Lal Nath, son of education minister Ratan Lal Nath. Abir was his senior at the Tripura Medical College. He further added, “You may hate the Prime Minister or any other leader. But you can’t post something like this when the country is going through a crisis. If u don’t like the PM, defeat him in elections and then prove your worth. People like him are shot in public in Israel.”

Sovakar Debnath, medical officer of ONGC Tripura Asset, said, “I know him for 6 years but never knew that he has such thoughts for his own country. It is very unfortunate.” Director of youth affairs and sports Udayan Sinha demanded strict action against him.
