Tripura Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman urged youths, especially students not to become prey to substance addiction to avoid ‘cancer.’
While speaking at a cancer-awareness¬† programme at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala¬†on Thursday, the minister, himself admitted his addiction to few ‘bad habits’, in an oblique reference to tobacco consumption¬† and promised that he would try to quit these habits.
“Being educated, the young students should shoulder the responsibility to create awareness among poor and uneducated people. So, I appeal you never become slave to substance addiction. Even I will try to quit it,” said Roy Barman.

The state registers 2,500 cancer cases are diagnosed every year, stated by
Regional Cancer Centre in Agartala.
