There is a considerable scope for investment in the tea sector of Tripura as the tea currently produced in the state is recognized for its good blending qualities said state’s Department of Industries & Commerce.
It said the suitable agri-climatic conditions, traditional tea growing skills, potential to increase the area under production and tea production with good blending qualities are necessary for setting up of blending units in Tripura.
The Economic Review of Tripura published by Directorate of Economics and statistics Planning Department Government of Tripura, Agartala reveals that the state is a traditional tea growing state with history of tea plantation dating back to the 1916.
Presently there are 54 the estates and 4346 small tea growers producing over 9.95 million kg.
