A delegation of indigenous based opposition Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) has intimated that they would be going over to New Delhi tomorrow to meet the Registrar General of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister for seeking NRC in Tripura as well as to apprise them of the demographic situation in state.

Hundreds of indigenous people participated in the demonstration under INPT on August 25 in support of their nine charter of demand including introduction of NRC in state based on 1951 as the cut off date, filling of vacant posts for ST through special recruitment drive, empowerment of ADC including land right to direct funding, withdrawal of Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in TTAADC areas and inclusion of Kokborok language in the 8th schedule of the constitution.

Earlier, both INPT and IPFT, the ally of ruling BJP held two separate public rallies in Mandai and Khumlung respectively over their demands for introduction of NRC in Tripura as well as for a separate state.
