The state is expected to witness heavy rainfall and high speed winds until June 12 as the southwest monsoon has advanced into the north-east region according to a notification released by Indian Meteorological Department.
The Meteorological Department in a warning today said “Heavy to very rain is very likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur from June 9 next”.
Meanwhile people in parts of Agartala got a much needed respite from heatwave conditions after light rains lashed this morning.
Agartala received 5.5 mm rain. The city has registered a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius today while the minimum temperature settled at 25 degrees Celsius.
The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to settle 31 and 26 degrees C mark in the state tomorrow, according to Met.
