Incumbent Chief Secretary of Tripura, Sanjeev Ranjan will leave the state and join the post of chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Official sources informed that the transfer order of Sanjeev Ranjan, an IAS officer of MT cadre-1985, has been received by state administration on Tuesday from Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and soon Sanjeev Ranjan will join his new assignment. Sanjeev Ranjan was resumed office on January 31, 2017.
However, sources close to secretariat added that among the four additional chief secretaries of Tripura Dr U Venkateswarlu (MT-1986) is the most senior officer after Sanjeev Ranjan, now looking after the charges of Agriculture and ARDD departments.
Three more IAS officers of MT cadre-1987 including Lalit Kumar Gupta, Dr GSG Ayyangar and Sushil Kumar are also holding different departments of Tripura government as additional chief secretaries. Sources added that present BJP-IPFT coalition government will prefer one of them as new chief secretary of Tripura.
